Coconut Grove, Miami
3 Bedrooms | 3 Bathrooms | Office | 2,600 Sq. Ft. Full Home Renovation | Planning, Permitting & Construction | 2025
Project Overview
Scope: Full interior renovation of a two-story home including open-plan living areas, a new primary suite, primary and guest bathrooms, home office, and custom millwork and detailing throughout.
Focus: Transform a tight, compartmentalized interior with little material identity into an open, expressive home with strong natural light, confident design, and spaces that reflect how the family lives.
Result: A bright, contemporary residence with connected living areas, a sculptural stair as its organizing centerpiece, and a warm material palette that feels both modern and deeply livable.
Before the Renovation
The Coconut Grove home had a functional footprint but an interior that felt tight, generic, and disconnected from both light and character. Small, enclosed rooms restricted flow and limited natural light. The finishes were uniform and undifferentiated. The primary suite was modest. There was little sense that the home had a design identity of its own. The renovation started by opening everything up and building a new interior from a clear point of view.
Living Areas
The entire first floor was opened into a continuous kitchen, dining, and living environment, unified by large-format flooring, consistent ceiling treatments, and custom wood columns and slatted walls that define zones without closing them off.
Primary Suite
The primary suite was expanded and redesigned as a private retreat with strong natural light, custom millwork integrating storage and a dedicated workspace. The walk-in closet is designed as a room rather than a corridor. A spa-style bathroom with a large-format wet room shower, tile feature wall complementing microcement wall finish, and a custom wood vanity with stone sink — finished with globe light fixtures and contemporary plumbing fittings.
Entry & Staircase
Redesigned stairs became a sculptural anchor for the home's entry and vertical circulation. Natural wood slat feature walls provide a canvas for displaying owners’ art and tie the entry design to living area columns and TV wall.
Secondary Spaces
The home office, guest bedroom, baby nursery, home office, and secondary bathrooms are fully renovated with the same material discipline and custom cabinetry that defines the rest of the home.
