Custom Kitchen Renovation

Designed for a passionate home chef, this Pinecrest kitchen brings together modern clarity, warmth, and serious functionality.

Before: A closed, dated layout with limited storage and poor flow.

After: A light-filled, modern kitchen defined by warm wood cabinetry, Taj Mahal quartzite surfaces, and seamless detailing — now open, efficient, and truly central to family life.  A refined transformation built for cooking, gathering, and everyday living.

Project Overview

Designer: Orange Home / Fatto Su Misura Kitchen Design
• Architect/Engineer: Orange Home
• General Contractor: Orange Home
• Permit Expeditor: Orange Home
• Scope: Full kitchen renovation integrated with adjacent family space
• Focus: Create a refined, chef-driven kitchen that balances professional-level function with family living
• Result: A warm, modern kitchen designed for serious cooking, everyday use, and effortless connection to the home

Objectives

• Create a highly functional kitchen suited to a professionally trained home chef
• Balance modern design with warmth and livability
• Improve flow between kitchen and family room
• Integrate seating and gathering without compromising workspace
• Select materials that support durability, performance, and visual calm

Design Approach

The design combines modern clarity with natural warmth, using a restrained palette and carefully layered materials.  Rather than emphasizing trends, the focus was on creating a kitchen that supports real cooking while remaining visually calm and welcoming for family life.

Existing Conditions

Prior to renovation, the kitchen featured:

• Limited counter space for serious food preparation
• A conventional layout that separated cooking from family activity
• Finishes that lacked durability for frequent, professional-level use
• Minimal connection to adjacent living spaces

While functional, the space did not reflect the homeowner’s cooking style or the central role the kitchen plays in daily life.

Planning & Reconfiguration

Key planning moves included:

• Opening the kitchen to the family room to support flow and connection
• Reorganizing work zones for efficient prep, cooking, and cleanup
• Integrating a dining surface directly into the cabinetry
• Eliminating visual clutter through concealed hardware and built-in storage
• Establishing clear circulation paths around active cooking areas

The result is a layout that feels both generous and highly controlled.

Kitchen

• Custom cabinetry in a mix of warm wood grain and soft matte laminate
• Handle-free Gola system for a clean, continuous appearance
• Taj Mahal quartzite countertops and full-height backsplash
• Integrated appliances for visual continuity
• Large, uninterrupted work surfaces suited to serious cooking
• Carefully layered lighting for task, ambient, and accent needs

This kitchen is designed first as a workspace — refined, efficient, and built to perform.

Kitchen & Dining

• Integrated table extending directly from the cabinetry
• Casual seating that remains visually connected to the kitchen
• Allows cooking, dining, and conversation to happen in one continuous zone
• Designed for both family meals and informal entertaining

The dining area becomes part of the kitchen experience, not an afterthought.

Living

• Direct connection between kitchen and family room
• Clear sightlines supporting interaction and supervision
• Visual continuity through shared materials and finishes
• Supports daily family life without compromising the cooking environment

Secondary Spaces

• Pantry and storage carefully integrated into the cabinetry system
• Dedicated zones for small appliances and dry goods
• Drawers and organizers tailored for spices, baking tools, and cookware
• Storage designed around how the homeowner actually cooks

Result

The finished kitchen delivers:

• A professional-grade cooking environment within a family home
• Warm, modern design that feels both refined and approachable
• Seamless flow between cooking, dining, and living
• Materials and detailing that support long-term use and visual calm
• A space that reflects the homeowner’s culinary passion and everyday life

This project transforms the kitchen from a functional room into the true heart of the home — designed for creativity, connection, and daily joy.
