Coconut Grove
Full Home Renovation
A once tight, generic interior reimagined into a light-filled, expressive home featuring open living spaces, a tailored primary suite, and custom detailing throughout. Designed to feel modern and deeply livable.
Before: Small rooms, narrow circulation, and a uniform white interior.
After: Open living, natural light, custom millwork, and a home with real identity.
Design Approach
This renovation focused on improving flow, increasing livable space, and creating strong connections between interior and exterior living areas. Warm materials, clean detailing, and a neutral palette were combined with expressive elements to create a home that feels modern and confident without feeling cold or impersonal.
Natural wood, sculptural lighting, stone, tile, and custom millwork were used to give the home a distinct identity while maintaining a calm, livable atmosphere designed to evolve with the homeowners’ needs.
Before the Remodel
The Original Home Featured:
• Small, enclosed rooms with limited visual flow
• Narrow circulation and compressed living spaces
• A largely uniform white interior with little material or spatial variation
• Modest bedrooms and bathrooms with limited identity
• Few opportunities for natural light to shape the interior experience
While functional, the space felt tight, generic, and disconnected from both light and character.
Objectives
• Replace a tight, compartmentalized layout with open, connected living spaces
• Introduce stronger natural light and clearer circulation
• Create a large, comfortable primary suite
• Add a dedicated guest room and bath
• Move beyond generic finishes toward a more expressive and personal interior
• Balance architectural clarity with warmth and individuality
Planning & Reconfiguration
The renovation rethought how the home is experienced from entry through private spaces.
Key planning moves included:
• Opening the first floor into a continuous living, dining, and kitchen environment
• Simplifying circulation by removing unnecessary walls and corridors
• Repositioning stairs to become a sculptural and spatial anchor
• Clearly separating public living areas from private bedroom zones
• Expanding and reorganizing the primary suite to create a true retreat
• Integrating a guest bedroom and bath without compromising flow or privacy
The result is a home that feels open, intuitive, and carefully layered.
Living Area
• Living, dining, and kitchen areas flow together without visual interruption
• Large-format flooring and consistent ceiling treatments unify the space
• Custom wood columns and slatted walls subtly define zones without closing them off
• Built-in cabinetry and media walls anchor furniture layouts
• Sculptural lighting and ceiling details add rhythm and identity overhead
This level now supports both everyday living and entertaining with ease.
Kitchen & Dining
• Custom wood cabinetry paired with expressive stone surfaces
• Large island with integrated seating connecting cooking and dining
• Window backsplash bringing greenery directly into the workspace
• Integrated appliances for a clean, continuous appearance
• Lighting designed to balance function with visual warmth
The dining area connects directly, allowing the kitchen to function as a social center rather than a separate room.
Primary Suite
• Expanded bedroom with strong natural light and clear furniture placement
• Custom millwork integrating storage and a dedicated desk or media zone
• Bold ceiling and lighting composition giving the room a strong identity
• Walk-in closet designed as a room rather than a corridor
Together, these elements create a retreat that feels both personal and composed.
Primary Bathroom
• Spa-style layout with large-format shower and integrated wet room
• Black-and-white geometric wall tile and hexagon porcelain flooring
• Custom vanity with wood cabinetry custom stone sink
• Globe light fixtures and contemporary plumbing fittings
Secondary Spaces

• Custom cabinetry replaces off-the-shelf storage
• Flooring transitions are minimized for visual calm
